Physical and chemical properties:

White crystalline powder, odorless, bitter taste. Melting point 258-264℃. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in acetone, chloroform, ether and benzene. After reacting with ammonium molybdate solution, evaporate to dryness in a water bath, and add sulfuric acid to reveal blue-green color. Dissolve galantamine in absolute ethanol by heating and add hydrogen bromide to obtain it. The anticholinesterase drug, galantamine hydrobromide, is less effective and less toxic than neostigmine. By increasing the sensitivity of choline receptors, the inhibited neuromuscular conduction in skeletal muscles is restored, improving the paralysis caused by neuromuscular conduction disorders, thereby enhancing its motor function. This product can pass through the blood-brain barrier and has a strong central effect. It was mainly used in the early clinical treatment of sequelae of polio and myasthenia gravis.
